Global Series sessions, part of an on-going dialogue since 2010, address topics of global significance at a senior level of discussion. Working closely with government representatives, adjudicators, corporate leaders, litigation leaders, academics, and others in the global community, the Series responds, in real time, to emerging challenges. The on-going Series includes participants from Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United States, the People’s Republic of China, Canada, Brazil, and other countries.

This panel will examine key discussions and observable trends of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) since its launch on June 1, 2023. The procedural and substantive aspects of the UPC will be explored and compared to other leading jurisdictions for patent disputes, including in terms of speed and efficiency, injunctive relief, the handling of infringement and validity, and cross-border remedies. The role and interplay of UPC proceedings on international patent litigation will also be discussed, taking into account recent cases and trends.
